Since upgrading to the versions that switch this across to a cron job I no longer get any emails!

I am not on 2.5, the cron job is soup and runs when I manually run it and my username is in the list of people to email.

Any ideas?

Try registering a fake account and waiting for the Cron entry to run on it's own (runs every 10 minutes). Be sure you're on a live site or else there won't be anyone to trigger the Cron entry.
